The Upper Clear Creek Watershed Association (UCCWA) is designated under Section 208 of the Clean Water Act as the management agency responsible for reviewing proposed actions that may impact water quality in the watershed. Our membership includes municipalities, counties, dischargers and related entities located in the upper Clear Creek watershed, in Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Jefferson counties.

Only members designating Inactive Status are required to confirm that decision in writing annually. Active designation will not require annual confirmation. A member desiring to change its status is required to confirm that decision in writing to the Secretary/Treasurer.

UCCWA August 13, 2026, Site Tour of the CDOT Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel System
UCCWA extends a special thank you to CDOT for hosting a site tour of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Continental Divide tunnels and Molson Coors for supplying food and soft drinks for the tour. The tour included a presentation on the history of the tunnel system on the easternmost segment of the I-70 corridor, which encompasses Clear Creek Valley between Floyd Hill in the east and the Eisenhower Tunnel and penetrates the Continental Divide at the west end. Constructing the tunnel system at the Divide was no small feat. Today, CDOT provides 24/7 operations surveillance, emergency response, ventilation maintenance, tunnel sweeping, snow removal, and water treatment.
